Radiator Restoration
 Each
car restoration is unique and each car radiator restoration we undertake is also unique. We
fabricate from drawings, and blueprints or reverse engineer parts
from our customer’s radiators.
Our customers range from restoration shops preparing for the Concours D' Elegance to customers driving in the local parade. Each job is tailored to our customer's
budget and their exacting standards.
Radiator restorations generally involve the following steps.
- Completely dismantling the old radiator
- Cleaning and examining all parts and surfaces to guarantee a
leak-free product.
- Reassembling the radiator with a new core installed
- Pressure checking the finished unit to ~21psi for leaks in a
dip tank.
- Checking the side mounting brackets for proper radiator shell
location
- Re-plating the old filler neck in nickel, or supplying a new
nickel-plated filler neck if required
- Painting the radiator flat black
- Packaging the radiator in a container suitable for shipment
anywhere in the world.
- Due to the unpredictable nature of used radiator parts (original
top and bottom tanks, inlet and outlet fittings, etc.), we cannot
guarantee the long-term structural integrity of old parts.
We will, however, make every effort to not use old parts that,
in our opinion, are too far gone to provide reliable service.
Our standard two-year warranty against solder joint leakage, as
well as our two-year warranty on the materials and workmanship
used in the construction of the new core still applies.

Cellular Core Designs
If your car requires cellular core or the more commonly called "honeycomb" radiators we may be able to help. The Brassworks produces square cellular cores using period equipment from the Rome Turney Radiator Company. Each core is constructed from the same specifications as the original and each core's face is dipped in molton solder. To properly construct these cores is a process involving both science and art. These beautiful brass era radiators are commonly found on classics like the Pierce Arrow, Franklin, Seagrave fire engines, Livingston V, Buick, Underslung, Lozier and many more.
The Brassworks also can manufacture horizontal tube and disc style cores like those found in turn of the century
Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles and cartridge style hexagonal honeycomb cores.
