If you chopped, channeled and sectioned your car into an unbelievably unique creation and know that you have no hope of an off-the-shelf radiator from your street rod part store or local hot rod shop, then The Brassworks can help.  The Brassworks specializes in building unique custom radiators to accommodate unique custom cars.

We will work with you on the design of the radiator much like a commissioned piece of art because in many cases that is exactly what it is. We will move inlets and outlets, install transcoolers, install fans and shrouds, chop cores, narrow cores or expand cores. We can work with your stock car, your professional hot rod builder, or a street car kit designer   It is all done at our facility in San Luis Obispo, California and you are part of the build process from start to finish.

Street Rod Radiator Construction

Built to Cool - Our Street Rod Radiators are available in three row core and four row cores of imported tellurium copper.  We form our copper fin to tumble the air flow and reduce the impact of surface drag from the laminar flow theory.

Built to Last – Each Brassworks radiator comes ready to bolt to your application and complete with all connections, each assembly comes complete with the following standards.

  • Designed to operate with a 15 lb. to 18 lb. cap
  • Top tanks are stamped from .040 deep drawn brass
  • Mounts for the appropriate year shell
  • Brass drain cock for easy draining
  • Oil cooler for automatic transmission upon request
  • Heavy gauge steel side brackets
  • Simple bolt in application
  • Fit to original stock without alterations to grill or grill shell
  • Every radiator is tank-tested to 30psi and thoroughly inspected

Other classic car radiator we have restored

Classic Car & Street Rod Radiators

We build all our street rod radiators and classic car radiators at our facility in San Luis Obispo, CA. Each build is drawn up with the car's builder or the car's owner before the radiator assembly ever begins.

We only work in copper and brass and although most of our new street rod radiators receive a finishing coat of flat black paint, many rodder's come to us looking for something special in materials or design.

If your shopping for an old school rat rod or a show-quality reproduction we have a radiator for you. Whether in black polished brass, German Silver or Nickle plated radiator we can construct a radiator for your budget and build.

Tab 2

T-Bucket Radiators

The Brassworks has roots in polished era brass radiators. Our most common polished Street Rod radiator is the classic T Bucket but we will happily polish any hot rod radiator to a show-quality luster that will dazzle and delight the judges and spectators.

Visit the Radiator Parts page for brass polishes, motometers, overflow tanks and many more accessories.

Tab 3

German Silver Street Rod Radiators

German Silver has a color resembling silver-white. It is comprised of an alloy consisting primarily of copper, nickel and zinc. It is a hard and tough metal, but still malleable. When polished to full brilliance, it is guaranteed to stop the traffic at any car show. Sure we use it for a Rolls Royce or Bugatti but we find it looks nice in a 1932 Ford too.

Visit the Radiator Parts page for brass polishes, motometers, overflow tanks and many more accessories.

Tab 4

Nickle Plated Radiators

Occasionally, the Brassworks gets a request for a color not quite silver, not quite chrome and certainly not polished aluminum. They are often looking for a nickel plated radiator. We can build the radiator to your specifications and will arrange for nickel plating from a qualified plating company. Please allow time for this process as we do not keep this unique product in stock.

Visit the Radiator Parts page for brass polishes.

Tab 5

SPAL Fans

A mechanical fan will turn approximately the same RPMs as your engine. At 6000 RPM thats only 600 cfm, An electric fan at idle turns ten times that speed at around 2,400 cfm. Your mechanical fan will be turning all the time - even at highway speeds when you do not need it. A electric fan in sync with your thermostat gives you the cool you need and the quiet you want.

Tight on space? Don't worry, we have SPAL pusher and puller fans as narrow as 2.05" and a full variety of circumference and depths to accommodate your particular space needs. Our custom-built shrouds in steel, brass and german silver will match your design and channel that cool air.

Tab 6

Custom-Built Fan Shrouds

The Brassworks can form fan shrouds to fit your custom-built radiator from galvanized steel painted flat black, polished brass or polished German Silver. Each shroud is hand formed and finished to our exacting standards.

Visit the Radiator Parts page for brass polishes.

Tab 7

Custom-Fit Polished Brass Firewalls

Building a T Bucket and need a special look? We have firewall patterns for the original Model T's and can cut polish and form almost any aftermarket body. With a polished brass firewall, German Silver or Stainless Steel you can capture your billeted engine's shine from any angle.

Visit the Radiator Parts Page for brass polishes.

Tab 8

Overflow Tanks

We make 13" and 15" polished brass overflow tanks for T Buckets or the more conservative flat black for a classic car.

Visit the Radiator Parts page for prices.
