Ford 1951 Magic Air Fresh Air - 5" c-to-c

Ford and the aftermarket abandon the 1951 Fresh Air heater core in the Magic Air hoursing but we will still help you.

Some notes on the Ford Heaters in this period

• The 1951 Fresh Air Magic Air has tubes with a 5" center-to-center
• There are two types of factory heaters in this period; the Fresh Air-Magic Air and a  recirculating heater.  
• Magic air has a control valve in the coolant line to the heater core, and a fresh air damper, both adjusted by convenient levers mounted just under the dash.
• The standard (optional because not all trucks came with them) heater has a manual coolant valve threaded into the intake, and the fresh air duct has a plate covering it.
• The recirculating heater did not use the air duct under the fender. It just uses the air in the cab, or as the name implies, recirculates the air.
• An accessory heater was also available and that was a recirculating heater also. It was commonly called a Standard heater core had 3 doors on the face and was used from 1948-1950 F series trucks.
• There are different versions of the Magic Air, one for 1948-1950,1951 and 1952.
• 1951 and 1952 have different tube shape e.g. 1952 has a slight jog in the tube and a narrower tube center-to-center
• The 1948-1950 had the triangular control bracket and the 1951-1952 had a straight control bracket. Both mounted under the bottom of the dash.

We make our own copper cores and fabricate our own tanks so, naturally, we get asked to build custom heater cores or "small radiators." Some modern Fords leak like a sieve so we make a copper alternative.  We prefer to have the housing or original in hand to assure fit but if we have made them in the past and have a pattern you can order a drop in replacement.
