Chevy Car 1947-1954 & Truck 1949-1957 Heater Core

HC 47-57 Round

Regular price $329.00

For a number of years Harrison produced a donut shaped Recirculating Heater Core.  The lower priced Harrison Recirculating heater core generated less heat, used the in-cabin air and had the round core. Its most commonly found in southern mild climate cars and is a tricky little unit to make.  If you are a purist, you will probably want your round Harrison cellular heater core restored.  The trouble is, the replacement cell cores without tanks costs ~ $340 and they are rated for lowere pressure systems than today's modern engines.

Because most people just want their window clear of fog, their feet warm and their wife happy, we scrapped that idea and re-designed the heater core unit.  The tube and fin core design can handle the system pressure and has a 5.2" 12V SPAL fan with 313CFM.  We kept it all hidden inside the same round housing and did it so we would not break your bank.

You will need to mount the heater core to your existing frame and splice your wires together to power the 12V SPAL fan.

Made in the USA.

NOTE: We receive calls from our customers who retain the 6 volt electrical system and want to use our 12 Volt solution with an inverter.  We defer to the electrical experts on the sensibility of this but the 12V fan used draws 5 Amps at 13Volt and would require a 15 Amp inverter.

Instructions

  1. Remove any screws holding the mounting ring in the housing.
  2. Remove the heater core and mounting ring.
  3. Use a torch to apply heat near the inlet and outlet tube to de-solder the mounting ring from the heater core.
  4. Pull the ring and heater core from the housing. Desolder and dispose of the 6V Fan
  5. Prep and paint the ring and housing as needed
  6. Locate The Brassworks heater core in the ring placing the fan inside the housing.
  7. Feed the wires through the side bracket hole.
  8. Drill holes through the mounting ring into the bracket. DO NOT drill into the tank. Place sheet metal screws into the bracket and tighten until the unit is secure in the ring.
  9. Feed the wires through the side bracket hole
  10. Insert the mounting ring into the housing and use sheet metal screws to secure the mounting ring to the housing
  11. Feed the screws through the firewall and tighten nuts.
  12. Secure the heater hose to the inlet and outlet.

Other Notes: A Four Seasons 74661 Heater Valves may be used to activate the heater
