Skip to contentHC 57 Chevy car std recirc Htr core
Built as a 1957 Chevy Passenger Car Standard Recirculating.
All heaters were options in 1957. The main difference between the deluxe and the standard recirculating heater core is that the deluxe one heats outside air coming into the car while the standard recirculating one heats inside air. In humid weather using outside air for the defroster is perceived as superior to using the inside air.
Standard heater cannot be shut off ( bummer ). The hot engine water circulates through the heater core at all times and the heater core will radiate heat into the passenger compartment, even with the fan off. The common solution is to either install a shutoff valve, or disconnect the heater in the summer.
