Mercedes 1984-1996 W124 Copper Heater Core
HC Mercedes 84-96 W124
We build this at the request of a customer with a 1984-1996 Meredes W124.
No plastic, no aluminum, no o-rings and no screws. We solder the formed tubes to the tank. It has a copper tube and fin core with higher fin density.
Ordering the wrong heater core for these vehicles is very common due to mid-production changes. Failure to verify your specific model will result in owning a part that cannot be installed. The labor for this job is extensive, so getting the right part the first time is essential.
For W124 Chassis (300E, 300D, 400E, E320, E300): There was a design change in mid-1990. Vehicles built up to April 1990 use a heater core with top-mounted water feed pipes. Vehicles built from May 1990 onward use a core with bottom-mounted water feed pipes. You must visually inspect your existing unit or confirm your vehicle's production date before ordering.
For W140 Chassis (500SEL, 600SEL, S-Class): There was a design change in early 1993. The early-style heater core only fits vehicles up to VIN A133638 (produced through February 1993). If your VIN is higher than this, you need the later-style core.
